When Sheppard asked him if he had a wife on Sateda, Ronon replied with "close enough."
Friends: Lt. Col. John Sheppard, Teyla Emmagan, Dr. Carson Beckett, Dr. Rodney McKay, Major Evan Lorne, Andra Kes, Dr. Jennifer Keller

Background Information
Personality: Initially, Ronon appears primal and animalistic. In fact, he has a natural aptitude for violence, a necessary skill he's honed while running from and fighting the wraith for seven long and lonely years. His attitude is generally aggressive, intimidating, and threatening but he formed a quick bond with Sheppard. With minimal human contact over the years, his social skills have degraded but despite all this, he understands and is willing to obey the orders of his commanding officer.

Ronon’s gruff look and seemingly always scowling face tends to intimidate others, but during his time on Atlantis he has become more relaxed and social. He has proven to be very laid back, except when confronted by an enemy. The only times in which Ronon has shown irrational, violent, and impulsive behavior has been when faced with the Wraith, or when he or a teammate are threatened.

Despite his always serious face and his reputation of always being on edge, Ronon has shown the capability to laugh and joke around his friends. He is capable of great compassion, having been amiable to Rodney McKay, giving the scientist a hug after he survived near Ascension and healed Ronon of his scars from his days as a Runner. He also hugged Dr. Carson Beckett after the doctor saved his life and killed a Wraith that Ronon had a personal grudge against -- although at first it appeared he was going to hurt Beckett. Further more, Ronon displayed deep concern for Teyla Emmagan when she became deathly ill due to the sonic projections from Lantea’s whale like fish population, remaining faithfully with her throughout the ordeal.

Ronon has a creative side to him that very few know about. In fact, Teyla was quite surprised when Ara -- a Satedan friend and former member of Ronon’s military unit -- revealed he painted, sculpted, played music, sang, and wrote poetry. Behind that hardened mask of resolve lies the unexpected soul of a Renaissance man who stole many a Satedan woman’s heart. Though it’s unknown just how truthful Ara’s claims are as Ronon has yet to demonstrate anything of an artistic nature other than the brutal art of war.

Because of his primal and animalistic nature, Ronon isn’t thought of as being very smart. In fact, he’s been referred to as a caveman or Neanderthal. But the truth is quite the opposite. While he generally doesn’t understand a lot of the rapid fire scientific lingo that McKay spouts off or some of Earth’s colloquialisms, he understands a hell of a lot more than he’s given credit for and is very intelligent.

He also despises the Wraith, especially after what they've done to his homeworld. He declined an offer from Sheppard to return to Earth when it appeared the Atlantis expedition had come to an end by stating that he “can't leave the galaxy until every last Wraith is dead.” On a few occasions, Ronon has been depicted as a mean drunk whenever he is with a few fellow Satedans. And has shown how ruthless he can be, cold bloodedly gunning down his former CO, a man named Kell, in retribution for ordering the deaths of thousands of Satedans while he and his family escaped during the planet’s siege. Ronon is the kind of person who can be a great ally, or powerful enemy.

Likes: Ronon very much likes his gun which seems to have become the fifth member of his team. He keeps it with him always and it has almost become an extension of him. He also likes food and can be often found in the mess hall with his tray filled to the brim, and really likes beer or any type of ale.

He likes to fight and most of his “games” or ideas of sport tends to revolve around combat and hunting. He’s frequently in the gym sparring with Sheppard, Teyla, or Andra. And his most favorite thing of all is killing Wraith.

Dislikes: He hates the Wraith and anything to do with them with a passion. The mere mention of them provokes a blood lust that borders on a berserker rage.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Ronon is fiercely loyal to his friends and fellow Satedans, almost to a fault and to the point where he can be easily betrayed by them. But when that happens, watch out! Those he once considered as friends quickly become his enemies for life -- or until they meet their demise at Ronon’s hands. He’s also hot-headed and quick to anger.
Quirks/Habits: Ronon is fond of gunplay, quickly spinning his pistol around and playing with it to the point being annoying or concerning to others.
Sexual Preference: Straight/Heterosexual

History: Ronon was a native to his homeworld of Sateda, a planet with a 1940s level of technology, but with weapons far beyond that of Earth. He became a member of the Satedan military where he held the rank of Specialist. It is likely that this is their version of the Special Forces yet it is unclear exactly what he specialized in.

About seven years before his first contact with the Atlantis expedition, the Wraith attacked the planet because the people showed resistance. He tried to get Melena through the Stargate before the Wraith attacked. Her refusal to leave the Satedans who would be unable to evacuate forced him to remain behind and fight the Wraith. Unfortunately, his efforts were in vain, as the Wraith defeated Satedan forces and Melena was killed in an explosion before Ronon's eyes.

After that point, he was captured by the Wraith while they wiped out the planet. His life nearly ended like so many other humans in the Pegasus galaxy as Wraith food, but the Wraith that began to feed upon him abruptly stopped for unknown reasons. Ronon was then implanted with a tracking device in his upper back -- turning him into a Runner -- and was set loose to be constantly hunted. During the first few years of this however, Ronon learned several new tricks and decided to hunt them back. A cunning and skilled warrior, he turned the tables on them, killing many Wraith and managing to stay alive for seven years -- perhaps the longest any Runner ever has. But he could never return home, nor could he stay in one place for too long. Once, when he stopped to eat a meal and get a night's sleep in a village, the Wraith showed up the next day and destroyed it.

He first encountered the humans from Earth in 2005 when he captured Lt. Col. John Sheppard and Teyla Emmagan on P3M-736 while they were searching for the renegade Lt. Aiden Ford. He made a deal with them -- if their doctor could remove the tracking device in his back, he'd help them capture Lt. Ford. Dr. Beckett managed to extract the device, but a Wraith attack prevented the capture of Ford.

Ronon returned with them to Atlantis where he discovered his world had been completely wiped out by the Wraith after a MALP was sent through the Stargate to his home planet. For many years, he believed he was the only survivor of his planet, discovering later that approximately 300 Satedans had made it, settling on other worlds when they realized there was nothing left of their homes to salvage.

With no where else to go and no longer a Runner, Sheppard offered Ronon a place on his team after he proved his worth against the Marines and Teyla in hand-to-hand combat. He also passed the shooting range tests without any signs of hesitation or inexperience with the various firearms presented to him. He is a dangerous ally to have, as his abilities and personal motivations remain unknown. But he is loyal to Sheppard and his new friends, and puts the fight against the Wraith -- all Wraith, in any form they might take, anywhere and at any time -- as his highest priority.

Weapons: Ronon has a unique weapon, an energy pistol. The device emits red bursts of energy, and has two settings, stun and kill. It resembles a revolver, with a power cell where the ammunition cylinder would be located.

In addition, he carries an unusual looking sword which he crafted himself from the hull of a Wraith vessel, and ornamented with Wraith bones and hair. Even the sheath has been constructed from the leather of Wraith clothing. Ronon also carries a significant number of knives concealed upon his person.
Special Skills/Training/Abilities/Education: Ronon is an expert tracker and hunter. He is also highly skilled with weapons as well as in hand-to-hand combat.

Medical History
Allergies: No known allergies.
Injuries/Illnesses: Ronon's physiology is unique and he seems to be able to withstand more than the average human. Not only can he take a lot of hits from a stunner before being brought down, but he can fully recover from one within seconds. Of course, the more hits he receives, the longer it takes for him to recover.

  • At the age of 10, Ronon was afflicted with the common childhood ailment known as Kirsan fever.

  • During the siege of Sateda, Ronon was captured by the Wraith and turned into a Runner. A tracking device was implanted in his back and he was turned loose. He tried to remove it several times -- unsuccessfully -- causing a great a deal of scarring to his skin. But after a chance encounter with Sheppard’s team, Dr. Beckett was able to remove the tracking implant.

  • While on his first away mission as an official member of team Shep, Ronon was shot through the left calf with an arrow.

  • As a captive of the renegade Lt. Ford, Ronon was subjected to injections of the Wraith enzyme in an attempt by Ford to prove he wasn't crazy and that the enzyme worked. Since Ronon nor Teyla -- who also received the injections -- had been exposed to the enzyme for long or in massive doses as McKay had injected himself with -- while their withdrawal from the substance was severe, it wasn't life threatening.

  • Dr. Beckett had to perform emergency surgery on Ronon to remove a P-90 round after Elizabeth Weir -- who was under the influence of an alien consciousness -- shot him in the gut.

  • Ronon -- along with nearly everyone else on Atlantis -- was under the influence of one Lucius Lavin who had developed a serum from a rare herb that once he ingested it, would make those around him highly open to his suggestion -- literally turning them into Stepford wives. He was able to manipulate Ronon, Teyla, and Dr. Beckett to undertake a dangerous mission -- of their own choosing, naturally -- to a Wraith held planet to procure more of the herb for their "friend." It wasn't until Sheppard -- who wasn't under Lavin's influence due to a cold -- abducted Beckett and got the doctor away from Lavin that the two formulated an antidote that once administered, nuetralized the herb's effects.

  • Nearly a year after the removal of the first implant, Ronon was captured by some villagers and turned over to the Wraith where he was once again made a Runner. He was wounded -- taking a piece of shrapnel in the right thigh that he later removed himself -- after the wareshouse he was in exploded when a Wraith drone self-destructed. And as previously -- when his friends arrived to help -- Dr. Beckett was able to remove the tracking device.

  • Ronon was mentally influenced by an experimental Wraith machine which caused him to hallucinate. He began to hunt Sheppard whom he believed to be a Wraith that had captured Teyla. He nearly killed Sheppard – who also under the machine’s influence winged Ronon’s right arm thinking he was Taliban -- but Teyla managed to convince the Colonel to the pull the plug on the machine in the nick of time, bringing Ronon back to his senses.

  • As a way of making amends with Ronon, McKay healed all his physical scars after being briefly imbued with Ancient powers.

  • When a space station built inside a small moon was sent out of orbit, Ronon dislocated his right shoulder when he was slammed up against a bulkhead. Impatient – and much to Sheppard’s disturbance – Ronon reset his shoulder by putting his arm through a hatch door turn wheel and jerking the humerus bone back into its socket.

  • After an energy beam struck the control tower of Atlantis, Ronon received several cuts and lacerations from flying glass, including a rather large shard that embedded itself in the upper right quadrant of his chest.

  • Ronon received some minor stitches after having been accidentally struck above his left eye by Sheppard during a sparring match.

  • In yet another sparring incident – though not with Sheppard – Dr. Keller had to sew up Ronon’s right forearm.

  • On an investigative mission to one of Michael’s labs in order to discover Teyla’ whereabouts, Ronon was buried under 3 thousands tons of rubble with Sheppard when McKay inadvertently triggered a bobby trap, causing the building they were in to implode. While the Colonel was severely injured, Ronon only suffered minor cuts and lacerations.

  • In a rescue attempt to free Dr. Keller from an alien mass, Ronon was choked by one of its tendrils, causing severe bruising to his larynx which prevented him from speaking for several days. He was also exposed to the same alien organism as Keller, but recevied the cure before he ever displayed any symptoms.

  • Captured by a fellow Satedan and friend -- a former Wraith worshipper named Tyre -- turned Ronon over to his master in order to win back the Wraith’s favor. However, instead of being turned into a Runner again, Ronon was forced to endure several horrifying feedings and reverse feedings, flooding his system with the Wraith enzyme and essentially turning him into a drug addict. Under the influence of the enzyme and with his mind warped, Ronon betrayed Sheppard and the rest of team, capturing them. But with a reformed Tyre’s help, they were able to escape and save Ronon, returning with him to Atlantis. But Ronon’s problems didn’t end there. In order to purge his system of the Wraith enzyme he had to fight his addiction cold turkey and he came down hard. It was a very difficult time for both Ronon and his friends.

  • After Michael had inflitrated the Atlantis control room, Ronon went head-to-head with the Wraith hybrid to prevent him from blowing up the city. During the fight, Michael managed to hurl Ronon off the obseveration balcony to the gate room floor below. He hit his head, sustaining a concussion and bounced off several steps.

Mental Health: Generally stable but he has anger management issues. He lets his temper get the best of him, at which point he can become irrational and unstable.
Eyesight: 20/20
Hearing: Above average – Ronon has developed and honed his hearing skills out of necessity. During his time as a Runner, having exceptional hearing not only alerted him to those who hunted him, but helped him to become the hunter in turn.
ATA Gene: Negative
